Hello and Welcome to Intro to Dance for Teens! Whether learning to dance has been a life-long dream or you're just looking to try something new, Intro to Dance for Teens is a great place to start. Through this five-day course, students will learn the basics of both jazz and ballet. Class runs two hours each day, giving students time experience all the elements of dance, from warm-up to choreography. Dancers will improve their stamina, flexibility, strength, musicality, and memory, through exercises and choreography. Students will have the opportunity to explore several different styles of both ballet and jazz, including lyrical jazz and jazz funk. Not only will students have the opportunity be physically active, but they will also learn the basics of dance terminology, etiquette, and class structure. Plus, students will have the opportunities to ask questions and to participate in group discussion. This class is geared specifically to older students, age 12-17. This course is 10 hours in total, 2 hours per day for 5 days, Monday-Friday.

Meet the Instructor
Mirissa Jones is a dance instructor and choreographer living in Orange County, CA. Mirissa has been teaching for over a decade at local dance studios, competitive teams, and K-8 schools. As an instructor, she has a passion for teaching beginning level students the fundamentals of jazz, ballet, and tap and then giving those students the opportunity to perform their choreography on the stage.
